Stores Person/Forklift Driver

MAA Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting for a Stores Person/Forklift Driver on behalf of our client, a specialist engineering manufacturer and market leader within their field.

Our client is looking for a bright, energetic and reliable individual to join their busy Stores department. The successful candidate will support the smooth running of the Stores, Production and Customer Support departments, handling mechanical parts, managing stock and operating a counterbalance forklift.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with previous stores, warehouse or engineering experience who is comfortable working in a busy environment, has good attention to detail and takes pride in maintaining accurate stock and ensuring goods are handled correctly.

This is a permanent, full-time position offering the opportunity to join an established engineering business and become an important part of their Stores operation.

Role:

  • Managing goods in and goods out
  • Checking, receiving and recording incoming goods
  • Loading and unloading deliveries using a counterbalance forklift truck
  • Moving and handling stock safely around the site
  • Maintaining accurate stock levels and carrying out stock checks
  • Processing stock returns
  • Packing and preparing spare and replacement parts for shipment
  • Ensuring parts are packaged securely and correctly
  • Handling potentially expensive mechanical and engineering components with care
  • Using a basic computer system to record and manage stock information
  • Supporting the Production and Customer Support departments as required
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe Stores environment
  • Following company Health & Safety procedures
  • Carrying out manual handling duties as required
  • Working as part of a busy Stores team to ensure the smooth running of the department

Skills:

  • Previous experience working within a Stores, Warehouse or similar environment
  • Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence
  • Previous experience operating a counterbalance forklift
  • Basic computer skills
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle stock and mechanical parts carefully and responsibly
  • Good organisational skills
  • Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling
  • Reliable and hardworking approach
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work in a busy environment and manage competing priorities
  • Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities

Working Conditions:

This is a hands-on role based within a busy engineering manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be required to carry out a combination of computer-based stock duties, manual handling, forklift operations and general Stores activities.

The role will involve handling mechanical and engineering components, some of which may be expensive or delicate, so a careful and responsible approach is essential.

Hours:

Monday to Thursday – 6:30am to 3:30pm
Friday – 6:30am to 12:30pm

Pay:

Starting salary £30,160 – 40 basic hours
